I hope so! Becoming a Textile Designer is the best thing that’s ever happened to me! I’ll get to that in a minute.
ARE YOU ENDLESSLY WISHING FOR MORE CREATIVITY IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?
Dude, that was me 💯percent. There I was sitting in my dinky 9-5pm Graphic Design job for a T-shirt company with an INSANE boss. He legit stalked his employees on social media, read every email we sent after we went home for the day, and pressured employees into his own religious beliefs.
And on top of all that, my job wasn’t very creative!
Suddenly, I started seeing other artists (thank you, internet) that were designing really amazing illustrations and patterns. I thought to myself:
HOW DID THEY GET THAT CAREER?
My B.F.A. degree cost tens of thousands of dollars and I had never heard of this? No one freakin’ told me?! Thanks a lot, Liberal Arts degree. What the heck is Textile Design?
Well, through a lot of trial and error and sleepless nights, I figured out how to bootstrap my way to becoming a Textile Designer without a degree in Textile Design. Yup. My degree was in Studio Art (oil painting) and my current job was in Graphic Design (designing T-shirts and promotional products). It took A LOT of grit, sweat, rejection and tears, but I finally made my dreams come true!
The good news is: You don’t have to waste time “figuring it out.” I’ll show you!
